 The
Szombathely area is situated close to the Austrian
border and therefore has many links with its
neighbour, in fact it is easier when visiting
this region to fly into either Graz or Vienna.
When staying in
the region a visit to Sopron is recommended with
its fine forest and botanical gardens. Being
so close to Vienna it is worth combining the
two during your stay. Szobathely, which is the
capital of the region is also well worth a visit.
Steeped in history from Roman to Baroque architecture,
museums, art galleries, a superb arboretum and
many interesting shops to browse through. Flights
into Austria to Graz are with Ryan Air via Stansted
and are really low priced most of the year.
Flights into Vienna are plentiful.
From Graz to Buk will take
approx one hour and a half with an easy border
crossing into Hungary and along good roads.
Sarvar
will take approximately two hours from Graz and a similar
time from Vienna
